Biological Services

Atlantech^® Companies' Biology Department has experience in shellfish and finfish biology, aquaculture and, husbandry. This experience spans across both freshwater and marine species.

The primary role of the Biology Department has been to assist the engineering staff during project design and construction. This assistance has traditionally involved system modeling to maximize solids removal, determination of system bio-load as a lead into determination of make-up flows, recirculation flows, biofiltration, degassing and oxygenation requirements.

This multi-disciplinary approach to system design has ensured that all Atlantech^® systems are constructed to meet both the mechanical requirements as well as the biological requirements of the specific fish species of interest.

Other responsibilities of the Biology Department involve modeling effluent characteristics for permitting purposes and, to assist clients in trouble-shooting water quality or mortality issues.
