Oxygen Contactors

In intensive culture systems oxygenation is critical to a successful system. Oxygenation refers to the diffusion of pure oxygen into a transfer device that promotes contact between the water and the oxygen gas. This contact between water and gas allows the oxygen to diffuse into the water where, as a dissolved gas, it can then be carried to rearing tanks. A large number of transfer devices exist from simple diffuser stones to more complex systems such as high pressure systems or multi-stage systems.

The Atlantech^® Oxygen Contactor is a low head transfer unit consisting of a cascade plate and multi channeled internals that promotes maximum contact time between the pure oxygen gas and the influent water.

The Atlantech^® Oxygen Contactor is a high efficiency transfer device that has a number of unique advantages over other types of diffusion devices:

• Repeated contact of off gas with inlet water greatly enhances gas transfer;
• Decrease in head requirements reduces pumping costs; and
• Lack of moving parts and elimination of pumping requirements reduces the risk of system failure.
