ATLANTECH® COMPANIES SECURE MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT IN CHILE

Atlantech Companies of Charlottetown packages state of the art aquaculture water treatment technology for export to major player in Chilean salmon industry.

Charlottetown, PE – September 27 th , 2006: Atlantech Companies of Prince Edward Island, Canada has recently signed a $1.1 Million Dollar contract to supply Cultivos Huacamalal Ltda. of Chile with a complete water recirculation and effluent treatment system to be installed in Rio Ignao area, Ranco Commune, XTH Region of Chile.

The complete turn-key project involves the design, supply and start-up of a land-based salmon production system using Atlantech's proprietary advanced water recirculation technology. The project will be delivered from Canada and supported by Atlantech's branch office, located in Puerto Montt , Chile .

With offices in both the East Coast of Canada and Puerto Montt , Chile , Atlantech has specialized in developing and supplying advanced water recirculation and wastewater treatment technology to the land based aquaculture industry and fish and food processing industry for the past 15 years. Atlantech will provide Huacamalal a turn-key installation by carrying out the project design, project management, system supply and start-up.

Geographically, Chile may seem an unlikely location for partnership with a company from Eastern Canada , but the size of market makes the fit with Atlantech's technology a natural one. Today, Chile is one of the three major salmon farming countries in the world, along with Norway and Scotland . In 2005, Chilean salmon exports raked in $1.93 Billion and the trade association “Salmon Chile” projects the value will increase to $2.2 Billion by the end of 2006. The first two months of 2006 showed a 23% rise in the export value of Chilean salmon and trout compared with the same period in 2005. Chile 's natural resources are ideal for salmon farming, including pristine, fresh water lakes and ocean temperatures off southern Chile that provide an ideal climate for salmon.

“The Chilean salmon industry is a very strategic market for Atlantech. It has taken us considerable time and investment to establish a presence and understand the local business culture of the Chilean marketplace. But we are now in a position to provide large – design build projects in Chile based on our unique technology” says Atlantech President Doug Wright .

For Huacamalal, the selection process for seeking a suitable technology provider began early this year and in August, Atlantech was chosen over a number of other North American, Latin American and European based technology providers. Cultivos Huacamalal is a new player in the Chilean salmon aquaculture industry. The company was formed by a number of experienced partners in the fish production and shipbuilding industry in Chile , and has signed an agreement to supply product to one of the largest salmon exporters in the country. The final contract will see Atlantech design and construct a salmon hatchery equipped to produce 4.4 million 70 gr smolt per year in four batches. The facility was designed to operate on 60% re-use for egg incubation (eyed egg to hatch), 97% recirculation for fry production up to 24 gr and flow through for smolt production up to 70 gr. Construction will be carried out during the remainder of 2006 with production set to begin in early 2007.
